2020 Knothole Baseball - Update

June 1, 2020

Coaches, Parents and Players,

On behalf of Knothole Baseball’s Board of Directors, I would like to thank everyone for their patience as we navigated together through these unprecedented times.  Your patience has paid off!  We will start our 2020 baseball season on Saturday, June 6th, 2020.

Knothole Baseball - 2020 Season:

  • It will be a shorter season compared to past seasons.
  • Opening Day will be Saturday, June 6th, 2020
  • End of season will be Tuesday, July 7th, 2020.  Coach Pitch will end July 11th, 2020

Knothole Baseball - Tournaments:

  • All tournaments will start on Saturday, July 11th, 2020.
  • All tournament formats will be determined based on the number of teams interested in participating.
  • Location will be determined.

Knothole Baseball’s top priority is to provide the opportunity to play youth baseball in a safe and healthy environment, under the guidelines of the state and local government and health officials.  The 2020 season will look a little different from previous seasons.  We will be required to follow guidelines provided by our state and local government and health officials.  These guidelines will cover practices, games, pre-game, in-game and post-game requirements.  It is important that all participants do their part and comply with all required guidelines.   Knothole Baseball has been in existence since 1932.  We stayed our course through these unprecedented times so we could provide a 2020 baseball season.  Now, we need your help!  Please promote, encourage and monitor social distancing.

Again, thank you for your patience, understanding and support of Knothole Baseball.  Please stay healthy and most of all, take care of each other.  We look forward to seeing everyone on the baseball fields soon.

Thank you,

Jeff Wiles

Knothole Baseball-District 5: Rainout Policy

Weekend and Weekday Rainout Policy:

Weekend Rainout Policy:

On the weekend, the majority of the games are played at 3 locations.  District representatives (some of them are four legged) will check the fields to see if they are playable.  The Knothole Baseball District 5 website will be updated by 8:00 AM, every Saturday morning.  We will also update the website and close any fields that aren't playable.  The website will then notify the teams that are affected by the fields being closed.

  1. Check the Knothole Baseball District 5 website at http://knotholebaseballD5.com.  The website will be updated no later than 8:00 AM.
  2. If fields are closed, contact the opposing team’s coach of the cancelation.
  3. Try to reschedule the make-up game with the other coach immediately.
  4. Once a make-up date has been agreed upon please email me at   and I will update the website.

Important Note!  Once the website has been updated (by 8:00 AM Saturday morning), if inclement weather rolls into the area after 8:00 AM and causes unsafe playing conditions, the "Weekday Rainout Policy" goes into effect.  It becomes the Home team's call on whether a game needs to be postponed due to unsafe playing conditions.  Please follow the "Weekday Rainout Policy".

Weekday Rainout Policy:

During the week it is the "Home" team coach's responsibility to determine if a field is playable or not.

  1. If you decide to cancel, please text our Director of Umpires at (513) 266-0182 immediately.  This will allow us to contact the umpire assigned to your game.  Please do not call, only text!
  2. When texting; text your field location, start time and team name.
  3. Contact me via email at or text at 513-259-8020, so I can update the website.
  4. Try to reschedule the make-up game with the other coach immediately.
  5. Once a make-up date has been agreed upon please email me and I will update the website.

Please consider the following when making the decision to play:

  1. The safety of the players.  Wet conditions can cause injuries.
  2. Please do not damage the field by playing when the field is to wet.
  3. Absolutely, no digging trenches on any fields!  This causes long term damage.
  4. Please use only a quality mixture if you are going to use a field drying agent (no “Kitty Litter”!).  There’s a product called “Pro’s Choice - Rapid Dry”.  You can pick it up at “Teams All Sports” in West Chester, Ohio.
  5. If you cancel; please try to notify the opposing team's coach no later than 3:00 PM so they can get a message out to their parents (if possible, even earlier for teams traveling more than 30 minutes).
  6. Please notify me so I can update the website.
